For the eighth year, Stockton United Methodist Go Green Team is practicing good stewardship by collecting light bulbs for recycling.
Deliver all kinds of residential light bulbs to Stockton United Methodist Church on Sunday, Feb. 16, 9:15-9:40 a.m., or Wednesday, Feb. 19, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Recycle these bulbs for free: Christmas lights, compact fluorescents (CFLs), incandescent, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and halogen.
Recycle these mercury-containing bulbs for a fee that passes directly to the companies that extract mercury, a complicated procedure for processing hazardous materials: 1-4 ft florescent and LED tubes, $1/tube, 2-8 ft florescent and LED tubes, $2/tube, high intensity discharge bulbs (including metal halide), $3/bulb, and projector bulbs–$8/bulb. Cash only, please.
To safely transport CFLs, LED bulbs, and metal halide bulbs, seal each one in a zip-lock bag, one per bag.
For safety, transport Christmas lights, incandescent, and halogen bulbs loose in a sturdy container, like a bucket or box. Bundle light strings and tie off with the cord; no plastic bags, please!
To prevent accidental breakage, transport florescent or LED tubes in the box the new ones came in (you can take your box back home) or carefully and securely wrap them in newspaper or other protective material to prevent them from sliding out.
We do not accept broken bulbs.
For safely, we cannot store bulbs in the church at any other time so please drop them off only Sunday, Feb. 16, 9:15-9:40 a.m. or the following Wednesday, Feb. 19, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
SUMC is located east of the square on Hwy. MO-32 at the intersection of Hwy. MO-J. For more information, call the church office, (417) 276-4717.
Follow signs and arrows to the SUMC east portico where a Go Green Team volunteer will safely collect your bulbs from your trunk or back seat. Please stay in your car and do not unload them yourself.
