Edna May Kurpjeweit, 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 in Meridian, ID, following a short illness.

Edna was born on May 6, 1932, in Wagoner to Dewey H. O’Connor and Ethel Elizabeth Freedle O’Connor, one of 10 children.

She loved and attended school in Stockton until she married Frederick J. “Fred” Kurpjeweit on Sept. 16, 1948, in Yellville, AR. Together they moved to Brookings, SD, where she graduated high School while he attended college.

During her husband’s military service and professional career, they lived in a number of states, finally settling in Nampa, ID, to be near family. They were engaged in farming and Edna worked as a bookkeeper for many years in the Nampa area.

One of Edna’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and later with her great-grandchildren. Since her husband’s death in 2008, Edna has resided at Karcher Estates in Nampa where she enjoyed many friendships and activities.

She is survived by her children – Michael Kurpjuweit, Jane Gregory and Jeanne Newbill and beloved son-in-law, Wayne Newbill; her grandchildren and their spouses – Lee Newbill, Shane and Hannah Newbill and Tami and Bill Anderson, and her delightful great-grandchildren – Dejah and Taya Anderson, and Henrietta and Gesall Newbill; two sisters, Lorene Clifford and Kay Floyd (Gene) both of El Dorado Springs; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

Preceding in death were her parents; husband, Fred and seven siblings – Elvin, Lester, D.J O’Connor, Cleetus Hall, Osa Whistance, Ina Freer and Hazel Haines.

It was Edna’s request for a private burial service to be held in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel where an online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com. Remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
