Joe Lee Beaty, 89, was born on June 1, 1932 to Joe Beaty and Goldie (Allen) Beaty   two miles West of El Dorado Springs.

He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1950. Joe Lee married Alice Louise Foreman in Nevada on Oct. 31, 1952.

He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers for 63 years and retired from Clarkson Construction in Kansas City in 1993. He helped build the dam at Stockton from start to finish and was instrumental in working on the major highways: Hwy. 71 , Hwy 13 and Hwy. 65. Joe Lee was a board member of the Special Road District for 12 years. He raised cattle for many years on the farm where he and Alice built their current home, moving there in 1962.

He built his parents a home and was a huge helping hand in building his son and daughter homes.

Preceding Joe Lee in death were his parents, Joe and Goldie Beaty; daughter, Donna Ann; brothers, Bill and Bob Beaty; sister, Betty Morlan, and son-in-law, Chuck Peery.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Alice Beaty; children, Jackie Beaty, and wife, Beverly – El Dorado Springs, Debbie Peery – Osceola, and Linda Bastian and husband, Jim – Joplin; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Joe Lee Beaty were held Saturday, Aug. 28, at El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital and left at the funeral home.
