John D. “J.D.” or “Red” Redburn, 85, passed away at his home on the evening of Aug. 3, 2023. He was accompanied by his wife, JoAnn, five sons and numerous other loved ones at the time of his passing due to the exemplary way he lived his life. In his 85 years of walking this earth he was well known for his strong love, devotion and loyalty to his wife, family, friends, community and nation.
After returning home from serving in the Army, he had several jobs over the years, the most memorable being a truck driver for over 40 years. He was often mistaken for Santa Claus by small children. J.D. was well known for being a devoted family man and friend to those that didn’t have any and for his enjoyment of conversations regarding the simple pleasures of life. He and his wife never turned anyone away from their table and always had time to share a cup of coffee. He is loved and will be missed by those of us that were touched by his humor, charm and good nature.
J.D. is survived by his wife, JoAnn; five sons: David, Marty, William, Roy and Zachary; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for J.D. Redburn will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, at Park Street Christian Church Fellowship Hall with Pastor John Coch officiating under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Disposition was by inurnment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s and left at the funeral home.
