Naomi Ferne (Snow) Boyle, 89, of El Dorado Springs, passed away at Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center, Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, 2020.  Naomi was born Sept. 29, 1930, at home near Elm, the youngest child of Abby Ferne (Fann) and George Fred Snow.

She graduated from Kingsville High School at 16, attended college that summer, and taught in a one-room schoolhouse.

She met Emmette Rodger Boyle Jr. at a roller skating party.  Their skates got tangled, he fell, and she sat on his chest.  Seven months later they married on April 27, 1951.

They lived at Chapel Hill, until their home burned.  They then relocated to a 600 acre farm near Warrensburg. Naomi was a farm wife, going to town to pick up parts, canning food from the garden, sewing clothes, cooking, working as a 4-H leader, and running the annual Clinton Bull Sale. She also proctored the GED and CLEP tests three days a month at the University of Central Missouri.

She was saved at a young age and was active in church, often teaching children. She sang hymns while working around the house.

When they retired from farming, they moved to a home on the shore of Lake of the Ozarks near Camdenton, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Bowling Electric Machine Shop.  They later moved to Gladstone to be closer to their grandchildren.  When her husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they moved to El Dorado Springs to avoid city traffic.

Preceding Naomi in death were her parents; her husband, Rodger; her sisters – Mildred Snow, Ruby and husband, Buford Shier, and Evelyn and husband James “Shorty” Jones; her brother, Kenyon Snow; her nephew, Donald, who grew up with her, and his wife. Judith Shier; great-granddaughter, Mathilda Nielsen; and premature twins, Tiffany and Michelle Dittmann.

Survivors include her four children – Evelyn Boyle (El Dorado Springs), Kathryn Hershewe (Shawnee, KS), Bill and wife, Karen Jo Boyle, (Merriam,KS), and Barbara and husband, Tim Dittmann, (Kansas City); nine grandchildren – Alisha and husband, John Cronin, Patrisha and husband, Ryan McGrath, Sadie Hershewe, Matthew and wife, Kassie Hinerman, Rodger Dittmann, Beth “Lizzy” Dittmann, Andrea Boyle, Nicholas Hershewe and Kelli Dittmann; nine great-grandchildren: Johnathan, Caleb, William, Mathias, Jack, Maddison, AnnaBelle, Eliza and Samantha; one great-great-granddaughter, Brinley; and sisters-in-law – Mary Boyle, Jean Raymond and Cathy Snow; and many other family and friends.
