On Tuesday, October 22, the El Dorado Springs Cross Country team hosted their home meet out at the Gene Pray Memorial Golf Course. There were 15 teams in attendance.
The day started off with the middle school girls race. Grace Seitz led the way for the Lady Bulldogs, finishing 4th with a time of 15:01.81 for the 2 mile race. Alayna Coleman joined her in the medals finishing 15th with a time of 16:53.00. Paityn Ridgway and Paisley Brown also ran for the middle school girls team.
Next up was the middle school boys race. Rylan Coleman led the charge for the Bulldogs, winning the race with a time of 11:53.78. Tucker Orr and Carter Smith finished shortly behind in 3rd and 4th respectively, with times of 12:41.82 and 12:44.50. Camden Watts finished 7th with a time of 13:19.03 to top out the medalists for the middle school boys team. Also running for the middle school boys team were Boston Lamb, Jaxen Simmons, Talon Parcel, Aiden Terry, Alex Melech, Preston Moore, Bradley Smith and Camdyn Penington. In the end the boys team ended up winning the team title.
Next up were the high school 5K races with the girls starting it off. Audrey Goatley led the way from start to finish, winning the race with a time of 21:44.77. Brailey Steward finished 2nd with a time of 22:27.22. Shortly thereafter followed a pack of 4, consisting of Aleta Lyness in 6th, time of 24:28.24, Riley Lee in 8th with a time of 24:31.79, Lela Brown in 9th with a time of 24:46.89 and Karcyn Rader in 11th with a time of 25:13.87. These 6 girls were joined by Clara Farran to find themselves in the end atop the team standings winning the High School Girls Team title.
Next up was the high school boys race to finish off the day. Like Audrey, Wyatt Klaiber led the way from start to finish winning the boys race with a time of 16:26.71. Braxton Watts finished 2nd with a time of 17:37.70. Wilson Burchett also ran for the Bulldogs.
In the end, despite the heat, the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs competed well and had a great showing for their home meet. Now the Middle School team turns its sights to the Missouri Middle School Championships to be held on Saturday, October 26 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland to wrap up their season. The High School teams will turn their sights to the MSHSAA Class 3 District 2 race which will be held on Saturday, November 2 in Plato.
