Auto hits buggy, leaves scene

About 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, a southbound vehicle stuck a southbound Amish buggy seven miles north of Jerico Springs on Hwy. 97 seriously injuring the passenger, Elizabeth Swartz, 18, El Dorado Springs. Two charged with murder

On Sept. 17, 2021, officers responded to 215 West Hightower concerning a check the well-being. Upon arrival officers located Johnnie D. Billings, 56, of El Dorado Springs, deceased inside the home. The investigation revealed the theft of a black 2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle. Investigators for the Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation.

Prosecutor files murder charges

On Oct. 15, 2021, Ty Gaither, Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney, filed murder charges against Alexzander Masters and Andrew Vessey for the death of Johnnie Billings on Sept. 17, 2021 in El Dorado Springs. All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Criminal charges are not evidence of a crime.
