The Rock Wall

Here we are just about to step into 2017. I remember, as most of you likely do, that some would-be prophets thought the world would end when the calendar turned from 19 to 20. And they said the computers couldn’t handle the turn over. I checked that out by lying to my computer – changing

On Monday, Kimball and I had just finished eating lunch when Mary came in with a sheet of paper which she handed me. I saw that it was an obituary and started reading it. I saw that it was for a Mrs. Sheldon who was a co-owner of the funeral home and thought it was

Kimball covers the city council meetings so I can go to ambulance board on Monday nights. She sometimes asks me to proof her report but I didn’t pay attention well enough to catch the change in the Christmas light winners: The judges no longer choose one in each of the four wards, just 1, 2,

I was sorry to hear about the death of Johnny Moore. I guess I’ve known him about as long as I’ve known anybody. I remember him, his parents, Alfred and Kate, and his brothers and sisters from Pleasant Springs church which we always just referred to as Oyer. Johnny was powerfully built. He milked cows.

Something Kimball did not consider when she picked our wedding day – Halloween 1975 – how hard it would be to find an anniversary card. I mentioned that to Debbie Floyd who was just shopping for Halloween cards. She agreed. Then I found it: two ghoulish looking characters, a heart between them and the words:

I missed our visit last week. I was on horizontal hold in the sick pen. I’ve never had blood poisoning before. Don’t particularly recommend it. At noon Friday I was editing copy at my desk. Just before Gwen walked in, I got cold, then I got sick. Stayed nauseated the rest of Friday and unsteady
