Sunday while we ate dinner on the grounds at  the Concord Homecoming, Steven Barger told me his aunt, Sharon, had called to ask him to have us stop by for a photo of their brutalized mailbox which we did on our way home after church. Then when we got close to home we saw Rod

The only really close Cedar County election I remember was when Don Berry and Fidel Bridges tied in the Republican primary for Cedar County Clerk. In the run-off Don Berry won big. – My interview with Cedar County Clerk Peggy Kenny about the recount in the sheriff’s race was an education for me. Hope you

I got an indication Tuesday evening of just how close all this unrest has come to home. A pleasant young man was adding up my few items at the grocery store. I hadn’t seen him before so I asked if he was going to play in the midnight scrimmage Saturday a.m. He told me he

The highlight of the Picnic for me was having Adrian home. Seemed just as natural as could be. The cats loved it. Bella was her cat first in Shreveport before Adrian had a dog. Caddeaux already knew her from a previous visit. They both spent every night in her room. Sunday night at bedtime Caddeaux

Found it. Vi Clevenger’s directions, which she marked in red on a map of City Cemetery she gave me, were 100% accurate. But I still couldn’t find the gravestone. So, I went back to City Hall just after Vi had left the office. Debbie Potter came to the counter to help me. She readily admitted

You goin’ froggin’? Season opens at sunset Thursday, June 30. As far back as I can remember Dad took us kids froggin’ as soon as season opened. There are lots of legal ways to take bullfrogs, but we only did it one way – by hand with a gas lantern. That way, you can cull

Saturday Kimball started working in the yard while the day was still cool, so you know it was early. I found my own list of things that needed to be accomplished. Chief among them was building watering dams around some of the baby red buds, flowering dog woods and white oaks we got from Conservation.

Sunday after church, Kimball called Adrian while we were still in the church yard because cell phone reception is good there. I pulled the car into the shade and just sat back to let them chat. Suddenly the conversation on Kimball’s part took a turn I didn’t like – something about Penny, Adrian’s seven year
