I thought the high speed internet line Sac Osage installed would cure the phone problems we have had at home for at least six months. Wrong. This morning I got an appointment with my podiatrist for 2:25 this afternoon. He’s only in the Specialty Clinic on Mondays. I called Kimball’s cell phone and left a

We almost lost a good friend, a good man, Jerry Chambers, to a bad heart attack last week. Thanks to the Good Lord and good doctors, he went home after the surgery. The scary part is that I’ve never heard that Jerry has been saved. I’ve never spoken to him about it because I’ve never

This is the calm before the storm, so to speak. The grandkids are coming – all five of them – and I’m excited. I get to see Davis and Erica’s three almost every week, sometimes several times a week.  Ben, 13, Erica and Davis’ oldest, is a perfect gentleman and you hardly know he’s here.

Remember your first deer hunt? We didn’t have a huntable herd when I went to work in Birmingham in 1969 stopping by the Funeral Home across from the Post Office to say good bye to my friend, Derrill Price, and sign the visitor book. He was killed in May in Vietnam. It was opening day

Did you know we sometimes have a genius walking among us? That’s what Ray Stevens said on the episode of Larry’s Country Diner I watched when I couldn’t sleep Saturday night. I’m sitting down for our weekly chat on Halloween, Oct. 31, which is our 47th wedding anniversary. Stephens, who I had not seen in several years

I was making an appointment with Dr. Wyant and got a pleasant surprise. The young lady with whom I was speaking said that our friend, Vicky, trained her before she retired. News to me. The young lady said now Vicky could spend more time with her husband. Then she told me Vicky got remarried a

I’m usually the last to know here at the office. Kimball told me last week, “Snider is supposed to have surgery today. I told you he swallowed a quarter.” “No, you didn’t. I wouldn’t forget something like that.” Snider is Adrian and Cain’s three year old. He and his brother, Van, age 5,were playing with

The Wayside Inn Museum’s Chili Cookoff is this Saturday, Oct. 15. Oct 15 is the traditional day for peak fall color. And I just noticed the beautiful tree on West Broadway. It is “engulfed” with beautiful orange leaves. The Chili Cook-off is a wonderful tradition. There are a lot of people outside milling around, eating

I plan to listen to the advice from Florida Governor Ron Desantis “you can hide from the wind, but run from the water. I’ve been caught in one hurricane, Rita, because Kimball and Adrian wanted to stay for breakfast with friends when Adrian’s college told everybody they could go home. Not much rain but the
